Since 1975, Dr. Art Ulene has spearheaded the use of media and technology to promote public health. He appeared regularly on NBC’s TODAY program for 23 years, and his nationally-syndicated reports were seen on more than 100 local television stations. Dr. Ulene led several national health campaigns in collaboration with the American Medical Association and other leading health groups, dealing with issues such as obesity, high blood cholesterol, allergies, immunizations, and smoking.

Dr. Ulene “retired” in 1998. Now, after 23 years of meditating, motorcycling, mountaineering (twice to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro), and travel (to 83 countries on all seven continents), Ulene is climbing Kilimanjaro again—this time to raise money for school lunch programs in Tanzania. He plans to celebrate his 86th birthday at the 19,341’ summit, at which time he’ll claim the World Record as the oldest man to do it without oxygen.

He’s not waiting until then to return to work. Starting in March, 2022, he’s resuming publication of his popular health advisory, “Feeling Fine”—this time in a free online version. He is also rumored to be developing an online version of the wildly popular weight loss program that helped millions of TODAY Show viewers with their waistlines.

Art Ulene is a Board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist. He has served on the faculty of the University of Southern California School of Medicine and on many health-related boards, including those of the USC/Norris Cancer Hospital, the AARP Foundation, and the Board of Councilors of the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at USC. He is the author of more than 50 books and home video/audio programs about health.

Art Ulene lives in Los Angeles, California, and Park City, Utah, with his wife of 61 years, Priscilla. They share three children, seven grandchildren, a love of skiing, a passion for adventure travel, and the nightly chore of washing dinner dishes.
